How to read and submit your meter reading

Pay as much as you use

If you do not have a meter installed at your metering point that enables the remote reading of electricity consumption, you can submit meter readings to us monthly and thus ensure you receive electricity bills according to your actual consumption.

You can submit a meter reading between the last day of the previous month and the 3rd day of the current month, using the different options that are presented below.

Submission of meter readings via the My GEN-I portal

This procedure is fast and simple. Enter your meter reading in the form, select the date of the reading and confirm it. You can also activate free SMS notifications that will remind you each month of the deadline for the submission of meter readings. You can also monitor your previous consumption on the portal.

You can access the portal here.

Submission of meter readings via SMS

During the meter reading process, you can submit meter readings in the quickest way directly from your mobile phone. Send us an SMS with the current meter reading to phone number +386 (0)30 200 111.

Include the following in your SMS:

  • the keyword READING;
  • the metering point number (indicated on the top part of the second page of the electricity bill);
  • the ST code for a single-tariff meter, and the PT and OT code for dual-tariff meter; and
  • the current meter reading.

You will be charged for the sent SMS by your mobile service operator in accordance with your package and the operator’s applicable pricelist. Upon successful submission of a meter reading, we will send you a free SMS message for confirmation. The 030 200 111 phone number is only intended for the receipt of SMS messages with meter readings.

First check what type of meter you have, i.e. analogue or digital. The taking of readings from an analogue meter differs depending on whether you have a single- or dual-tariff meter. The dual-tariff meter measures electricity consumption at the peak tariff (PT) and off-peak tariff (OT). The first series numbers in the upper window shows the PT, while the second series of numbers in the bottom window shows the OT. Each window can contain no more than six numbers where the last number is a decimal.

The single-tariff meter measures consumption at a single tariff (ST). This meter only shows one series of numbers, which also cannot contain more than six numbers, where the last number is a decimal.

Note: during the reading of an ordinary meter, only list the first five numbers from one or both windows.

Digital meters differ from analogue meters in that they only have one window that alternates between the display of data regarding consumption at peak tariff (PT), off-peak tariff (OT) or single tariff (ST), and data regarding date and time at a fixed interval.

Note: likewise for digital meters, only numbers up to the decimal point are read for the submission of meter readings. Decimals are therefore omitted during reading.

Data regarding electricity consumption for the single-tariff and dual-tariff measuring modes are displayed alternatively (every 10 seconds) on the digital meter. Code numbers that are displayed on the screen in front of the measured amount are used for the identification of displayed data. Their meaning is also noted on the front plate of the meter. The precise meaning of the codes is given below for simpler understanding:

  • 1.8.0 – consumed electricity in single-tariff measurement (ST),
  • 1.8.1 – consumed electricity in dual-tariff measurement at peak tariff (PT), and
  • 1.8.2 – consumed electricity in dual-tariff measurement at off-peak tariff (OT).

Other data:

  • 0.9.1 – current time, and
  • 0.9.2 – date.
