Strong connection and good dominate the mountain hiking section of GEN-I’s Sports Club
The GEN-I Sports Club offers a variety of sports and exercises, from team to individual training classes.
Among a diverse selection of activities, the mountaineering/hiking section truly blossomed in 2021. Three group hikes were organized in 2021. The first GEN-I hike took place in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. The second hike was planned for Veliki vrh on the Košuta Ridge. However, just a few days before the hike, snow fell, so we visited the Kofce. Šija and Pungart mountain pastures instead. The third hike led us across the border for the first time to the Croatian Kvarner. The hike’s destination was Učka, in particular its highest peak Vojak.
Hikers socialize among themselves, connect with each other and, in the true spirit of sportsmanship, also discover the natural beauty of Slovenia and beyond.
Jurij: ‘It’s great, as I don’t know many hikers in my other social circles, so there’s no one to accompany me on hikes. GEN-I is a big enough company to find quite a lot of people that enjoy mountain hikes.’
Žan: ‘The hiking section is a hit, as it provides a great opportunity to socialize and spend your free time actively in nature. The excellent organization is an added bonus.’
Majda: ‘Our Slovenia is a wonderful country, full of natural beauty that just calls for exploration. One of my favorite ways of discovering remote corners is mountaineering, so I was very pleased when a mountaineering section was established in the scope of the GEN-I Sports Club. Despite tackling some climbs together for the first time, excellent energy was felt in the group as a common denominator throughout our mountaineering challenge. At the peak of Kalce Ridge, we proudly wore our GEN-I t-shirts with the resounding inscription ‘We never run out of energy’, unfurled the GEN-I banner and posed for photographers. Employees who climbed two thousand meters for the first time received a symbolical mountain-like christening. Other hikers admired our connection and good spirit.'
Spring is here with temperatures rising, and soon summer will arrive, which is the best time for mountaineering. GEN-I’s mountaineering/hiking section is already preparing and making plans for the 2022 season.
